Librarian: Part-time

The Prairie School is seeking a part-time Librarian to join our academic team. This position is ideal for an enthusiastic, collaborative, and resourceful professional who is passionate about supporting students' research and literacy development. The Librarian will work closely with students across primary, middle, and high school grade levels, assisting with research, thesis writing, and academic projects.

As the school’s primary resource for research assistance, the Librarian will guide students through the research process, teaching essential skills such as information literacy, citation, and source evaluation. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research Support: Assist primary, middle, and high school students with research for papers, projects, and academic assignments.
  • Information Literacy Instruction: Teach students how to use library resources effectively, conduct proper research, evaluate sources, and cite appropriately.
  • Collaboration with Faculty: Work closely with teachers across disciplines to support curriculum needs, provide resources, and integrate research skills into class projects.
  • Library Management: Organize and maintain library materials, ensuring resources are up to date, accessible, and aligned with curriculum goals.
  • Literacy Promotion: Foster a love of reading and lifelong learning, encouraging students to explore literature and develop critical thinking skills.
  • Professional Development: Stay informed about the latest trends in library science, research methods, and educational technology to best serve the school community.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Library Science, Information Science, or a related field (required). Master’s degree preferred.
  • Previous experience working in a school library or academic research setting is preferred.
  • Strong research skills and proficiency with academic databases, citation styles, and information literacy.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
  • A passion for education, literacy, and fostering a supportive academic environment for all students.
